Ingredients
  

  • 500 g fresh chestnuts
  • Pinch of sea salt optional

Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Baking tray
  • Oven
  • Kitchen towel

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Using a sharp knife, score an “X” on the flat side of each chestnut.
  3. Place chestnuts on a baking tray in a single layer.
  4. Roast for 20–25 minutes until shells peel back and nuts are tender.
  5. Wrap roasted chestnuts in a clean kitchen towel for 5 minutes to steam slightly.
  6. Peel while warm and enjoy immediately.

Notes

💡 Tip: Add a sprinkle of sea salt, cinnamon, or drizzle of honey for extra flavor.
⚠️ Note: Always score chestnuts before roasting to prevent them from bursting in the oven.
