🌿 Elderberry Syrup (Classic Remedy)

A traditional immune-supporting syrup made by simmering elderberries with warming spices, then sweetened with honey. A classic natural remedy for cold season.

Ingredients
  

  • 100 g Dried elderberries or 200g fresh
  • 500 ml Water
  • 1 Thumb-size Fresh Ginger sliced
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 3 Cloves
  • 150 g Raw honey

Equipment

  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 Strainer
  • 1 Glass bottle or jar

Method
 

  1. Place elderberries, water, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until liquid is reduced by half.
  3. Remove from heat. Strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth, pressing out all liquid.
  4. Let cool until lukewarm, then stir in honey.
  5. Pour into a sterilized glass bottle or jar and store in the fridge for up to 2 months.

Notes

⚠️ Safety: Never eat raw elderberries – they must be cooked to remove toxic compounds.
💡 Tip: Take 1 tablespoon daily during the cold season, or stir into warm water or tea as a soothing drink.
