🥘 Crispy Plantain Chips

Simple and healthy chips made by coating fresh plantain leaves with olive oil and salt, then baking until light and crispy. A wild, foraged snack idea.

Ingredients
  

  • 10-12 leaves Fresh plantain washed & dried
  • 1-2 tbsp Olive oil
  • pinch Sea salt
  • sprinkle of garlic powder or paprika optional

Equipment

  • 1 Baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • 1 Brush or spoon
  • Oven

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C (320°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Place clean, dry plantain leaves on the tray.
  3. Brush or drizzle lightly with olive oil on both sides. Sprinkle with salt.
  4. Bake for 10–15 minutes, turning halfway, until crisp and slightly curled.
  5. Remove and let cool – they will crisp up further as they cool.

Notes

⚠️ Safety: Only use properly identified plantain leaves.
