Ingredients

  • 100 g Flour
  • 150 ml Ice-cold sparkling water
  • Magnolia petals fresh, dry, pesticide-free
  • Oil for frying

Equipment

  • Bowl
  • Whisk or fork
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Kitchen paper
  • Tongs

Method

  1. Heat the oil to approximately 180°C.
  2. Gently rinse and pat the magnolia petals completely dry.
  3. In a bowl, lightly mix flour, sparkling water, and salt.
  4. Do not overmix — lumps are perfectly fine.
  5. Dip the petals lightly into the batter (thin coating).
  6. Fry for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Remove and drain on kitchen paper.
  8. Serve immediately while crispy.

Notes

💡 Tip: Add a splash of extra sparkling water right before frying for an even lighter batter.
⚠️ Cold batter + hot oil + short frying time = perfect crispiness.
