🌿 Plantain Vinegar

A simple vinegar infusion of chopped plantain leaves in apple cider vinegar. Traditionally used as a soothing “after-bite” for insect stings and itchy skin.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 handfull Fresh plantain leaves (washed, chopped)
  • 200 ml apple cider vinegar (raw, unfiltered if possible)

Equipment

  • 1 Clean glass jar with lid
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 Strainer
  • 1 Dark glass bottle for storage

Method
 

  1. Chop fresh plantain leaves and place them in a clean glass jar.
  2. Pour apple cider vinegar over the leaves until completely covered. Stir to release bubbles.
  3. Seal the jar with a non-metallic lid (vinegar can react with metal).
  4. Let infuse for 1–2 weeks on a windowsill, shaking gently every few days.
  5. Strain into a dark glass bottle. Store in a cool place.

Notes

⚠️ Safety: For external use only. Do not apply to open wounds. Always patch test before use.
